Superior Tube Products, Inc. -- History

The company that is now Superior Tube Products, Inc, began in 1991 when Larry and Gloria Dlouhy decided to venture into the manufacturing business by purchasing Industrial Machine and Stamping in Rock Island, IL. Prior to then, Larry had an extensive background in mechanical engineering, large industrial presses, and steel fabrication facility management.

At first, I.M.S. specialized in stampings, with limited steel tube fabrication. Over the next years, capital was invested in additional tube fabrication equipment.

"... regional diversification ... direct supplier to large OEM manufacturers ..."

1996 began an era of expansion and of defining a new business plan for the company, specializing in steel tube fabrication. Thus the name was changed to Superior Tube Products, Inc. Superior Tube Products focused on regional diversification in an area from the Rocky Mountains to the east side of the Mississippi River, from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico, providing not only value added services, but also working as a direct supplier to large OEM manufacturers. Capabilities were expanded to include CNC tube slotting, production hand MIG welding, and bending a wider range of tube sizes.

The company has now grown to 45 employees and occupies 80,000 square feet. Capabilities such as robotic welding, CNC 5 axis laser cutting, and CNC tube bending capability up to 6 inch diameter round have been added to offer our customers the very best in tube fabrication. The company has grown dramatically since it began in 1991, but has remained family owned and operated, proudly producing parts and assemblies of the highest quality in the heartland of America.
