ROPS (Roll Over Protection System/Structure)
What are ROPS?
Rollover Protection Structures (ROPS) are roll bars or roll cages designed for wheel-and track-type agricultural tractors. ROPS are designed to create a protective zone around the operator when a rollover occurs. ROPS are designed to prevent the operator from being thrown from the protective zone.
Lawn & garden, heavy manufacturing, mining, agriculture, and the construction industries often use roll over protection systems. Applications that commonly need the equipment include trucks, forklifts, tractors and other heavy equipment.
Roll Over Protection System/Structure (ROPS)
We fabricate approximately 350,000 Roll Over Protection Systems annually for lawn & garden, agriculture, transportation, industrial, and construction equipment manufacturers. Equipped with innovative equipment and a skilled workforce, our service capabilities include precision CNC cutting, tube bending, machining and drilling services, tube laser cutting, robotic and hand welding, tube end finishing, hydraulic and mechanical press work and custom tooling.
Deliver products with protective occupant cells using Roll Over Protection System material sourced by STP.
Rollover Protection for Farm Tractor Operators
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), farmers had an accidental death rate of 21.4 per 100,000 workers in 2016. Our roll bars and roll cages surround the operators and provide a safe zone in the roll over protection system. Type of tractor ROPS frames include:
- Two post frames
- Four post frames
- ROPS with enclosed cab
They all serve the same function: protecting the operator in case of a tractor rollover and reducing risk.
ATV & UTV Rollover Protection
Roll bars also known as crush-protection devices, are designed to stop quad four-wheeled, off-road vehicles from rolling onto a driver if the vehicle were to tip over. Ensuring the safety and health of drivers is essential, there have been several accidents with life threatening injuries caused from UTV roll-overs without ROPS in place. UTV roll cages increase safety by providing protection to operators from injuries that can be caused by vehicle overturns. ROPS are required in certain terrain or operations to effectively ensure employee safety and are defined by various agencies like OSHA that include strength and energy absorption requirements of the structures.
Benefits of Roll Over Protection Systems (ROPS)
- Reduce the risk of death
- Reduce the risk of serious injury
- The ROPS protects the operator from being thrown out or from injury if the tractor rolls over
Superior Tube ROPS
Our experience, sourcing capabilities and stringent quality protocol ensure only the best materials make the cut. Servicing OEM mass applications and establishing strong relationships with suppliers enable us to provide industry-leading material traceability for ROPS for forklifts. Heat and lot numbers are etched every 18 inches on each product’s inside dimension. Our suppliers also confirm mechanical properties by performing destructive testing at reduced temperatures, when material is more brittle.
These ROPS are certified to meet maximum rollover impact and dynamic forces. Enhance the safety of heavy equipment you manufacture with robust Roll Over Protection System (ROPS) material from Superior Tube Products, Inc. (STP).
Material used to fabricate Roll Over Protection Systems for forklifts, also called Roll Over Protection Structures, must have high-strength and energy-absorption characteristics to ensure stability under stress. Substandard material can weaken, bend or break when bearing a load.
